Investigator's Observations

Investigator(s): Caleb Decker

I found the witnesses to be reliable and truthful as to the activity they reported. Here is a the results of my investigation:

I talked to the witnesses and was provided a very detailed account of the activity that has been occurring on their property. The witness began taking notes about the vocalizations they and been hearing and her notes state the following:

Over the summer (not sure which month) they heard the first scream, in which was described as a combination of a wild hog, bobcat, and bear but longer, deeper and guttural.

On 1-12-25 there were wood knocks that were documented.
On 1-15-25 during the afternoon at 2:33pm one of the witnesses was changing some outdoor lights when they reported a wood knock followed by a scream or roar. Then later that evening around 7pm while one of the witness was inside the home they reported hearing another scream/roar. It was 30 degrees outside and the snow was mostly gone.

I asked the witnesses to describe to me the roar/scream and they said it sounded like Godzilla. They have several dogs that normally will bark at anything strange on the property, yet here lately when this particular activity starts the dogs beg to be inside almost like they are afraid. While on the phone they went to our website and found the "X Roar" audio, and instantly said that was what they heard. I asked them to listen to a few more of the sounds but they declined and said that was enough, that had given them the cold chills.

On 1-24-25 there was a low growling heard from one of the witnesses that was coming from behind a 6ft fence on their property.

On 1-25-25 the witnesses returned home to find their garbage can taken out of the brick encloser and turned upside down with the lid still on it. The garbage can is a plastic can, there was no observable teeth marks or claw marks. It was like someone just pick it up, turned it over and sit it down.

1-28-25 one of the witnesses heard a "super loud growl" and very heaving walking in the woods behind the 6ft fence where the previous growl was heard.

I talked to the witnesses for 41 minutes and they were very detailed and one of them keep a journal of the things that have been happening. The area in which they live is 3 acres that is heavily wooded and the back of the property drops off and there is a seasonal pond when there are heavy rains. They are pretty isolated from their neighbors. One of the witnesses has been talking to their neighbors about the activity. The witness told me that one neighbor had two of his dogs killed, and when he fishes in his pond sometimes he has rocks thrown at him. There have been other neighbors that have reported finding tracks on their property as well.

Having grown up in this area of Arkansas, I will say that the topography resembles that of our research area; steep gorges and bluffs. There is plenty of water in the area with most of the drainages running into creeks that feed the the Greers Ferry Lake.

Plan on doing a follow up in person investigation of area in a few weeks. Going to leave out an audio recorder.

Update: 5/28/2025

I placed a ARU (audio recorder unit) in the field for 5wks and recorded 100s of hours of audio that still needs combing through.

I retrieved the ARU on April 2, 2025. While there I learned that the witness had a visual of an large, dark colored, upright animal at around 1:40pm. The witness was sitting on the back porch saw the animal beyond the fence to the South. Accompanied with the sighting was an "ungodly smell". We I arrived the witness' husband and myself walked in the area that the sighting occurred, the witness said that what she saw was at least 7ft tall or taller. We stood where she saw the figure and she could barely see us due to the overgrown grass. However, she had no problem seeing the upright animal at the same distance, leading to the conclusion that what she saw as at least 7 to 8 feet. It appeared to be minding its own business and just wandering around in the area of an old barn. I collected some hair samples from the fence and could identify some as whitetail deer, while one sample is really course and black (possible bear), needs further testing done to determine the origin. The sample was really degraded under a microscope, showing signs of freezing and thawing multiple times which left me unable to identify by comparison to known mammal hair. I have uploaded a sketch of the witnesses visual.
