Investigator's Observations

Investigator(s): Phil Burrows

On 7/9/2025, I received a call from the witness about the report he filed with the NAWAC.

His 1st experience occurred in October, 2017 while deer hunting in a blind on 10 acres of his land. With about 30 minutes of light left that evening he heard an extremely loud yell that thoroughly spooked him. He left the blind and went to his house. His wife was home and they both heard something yell, again it was extremely loud. He said whatever was making the yell was around his property for 2 days as he heard it again. He heard the “yoo hoo” yell subsequently and noted that he heard it moving at a fast pace and wondered if whatever it was (bigfoot in his mind) was looking for a mate.

His 2nd occurrence happened about 1 year later, probably November, and he heard an awful sound coming from a neighbor’s 3,000 acre ranch. The sound reminded him of a yearling calf being ripped in half. He said the calf was screaming and bawling extremely loud. He was recovering from a recent back surgery and wasn’t able to investigate further due to that and also it was not his land. He noted that he had several dogs at his place and the dogs started hauling up fresh calf bones and wondered if it was from what he imagined was the calf kill.

He later moved to the Ft. Cobb, Okla area in a 20 home subdivision that was adjacent to a wooded area.

In July of that year he was out fishing late at night on Ft. Cobb lake with one of his dogs. He was in the Party Cove area of the lake which was a popular area for boaters and ideal for fishing when no one else was around. He heard a low growling in the woods but basically ignored it since he was in the water and nothing was going to get to him regardless. He then heard the rippling sound of something large walking in the water coming toward him. As he’s fishing, he said a large rock hit the water about 25 feet from his boat. He left the area immediately.

2 nights later he was bait casting for shad with one of his dogs, a Weimaraner, at the same lake. He was overcome with a fear of dread all of a sudden and went home. As he was leaving he heard 3 distinct owl hoots. Except it didn’t sound like a hoot owl. He thought it was something trying to sound like an owl.

His last occurrence was on a July 4th weekend fishing trolling for stripers. It was about 1pm and in the NW/4 of the Party Cove area he saw a wood ape about 200 yards off standing still. He said it looked like the Incredible Hulk, very muscular, black with a tapered head to shoulder muscles. He estimated that it was 7.5 to 8 feet tall.

He also mentioned a tree break. The tree was broken about 5.5-6 feet up and the break was pointed toward the Ft. Cobb lake area.
