Gorilla-like creature seen rapidly crossing road near Mico, TX

Report Details

Occurrence date: December/2023
Location: Medina County, TX
Nearby/Vicinity: Mico
Time / Conditions: 09:00 — Overcast and cloudy and light rain drizzle, about 65⁰
# of Witnesses: 1

Witness Account:
On December 23rd at 09:27, while driving West on North Farm Road 1283 in Medina County, Texas, I observed a very large and very fast humanoid running across the roadway (northbound). It was approximately 7 feet or larger and ran at an incredible speed across two lanes. The profile looked like a gorilla, but was moving in full stride like a man. I was able to return to the location and locate two 18 inch footprints. The prints were formed on the ground comprised mostly of caliche and clay-like mud which was moistened by a light drizzle. The toe prints were the most prominent features of the fresh footprints with a depth of approximately 1". The only portion of what I saw yesterday morning was the upper torso as I was approaching the crest of a hill.

Physical evidence:
No hair was located and the footprints I located were from an adjoining field where I'm assuming it "vaulted" over a cattle fence standing about 4.5 feet tall. The area across the road it ran towards had a barb wire fence standing approximately 5 feet tall and was intact.

Hand/foot prints:
The footprints I located were outlined by mashed down vegetation within grass standing approximately knee-height grass and weeds. The ground was moistened by recent rain drizzle and was comprised mostly of caliche and clay-like mud. The space between the footprints were spaced over 6 feet apart.

Sounds:
No sounds. I was traveling approximately 65 mph with the windows rolled up and music on.

Investigator's Observations

Investigator(s): Blake Kellum and Bill Davis

An initial phone interview was conducted by Blake Kellum (NAWAC Investigator) and the witness. The witness recounted the incident that occurred on December 23th, 2023, pretty much verbatim to the report as submitted. The witness added that after the event, the witness called his father and made arrangements to pick him up along with a tape measurer and immediately returned to the sighting location to document any evidence they could potentially find, which they did (see attached photos.) A follow-up site visit was completed by NAWAC Investigator, Bill Davis and the witness. Below is Bill's comments.

On Saturday December 30, 2023, My wife and I met with the witness and drove to the area where the sighting took place. The location was on FM 1283 around mile marker 496. The weather at the time of the sighting was cloudy and overcast, with the soil still slightly damp from previous rains. The animal was traveling from south to north across FM 1283, and appeared to come from a double-gate, past foot impressions were visible.

During our interview, the witness recounted that he was driving to a friends house that morning and at exactly 09:27, as he was coming over the crest of the hill that is located in the vicinity of the cell tower, and he saw the top portion of an animal that was running extremely fast. The witness could see the head and shoulders, it had black-colored, long, raggedy hair. He could also see the longish hair on the head was blowing backwards due to the fast pace of the animal. The witness noted that he has never seen any animal move as fast as this animal. The chest muscles were very big, very wide, and very developed. The arm was big and muscular. The movement of the animal was very unusual in that it did not have an up/down movement as it ran; it was a very smooth, lateral movement and fast. The witness stated that it almost looked like a person in a gorilla suit, but that it would be impossible for a human to move that fast.

The witness pulled over to get out of his car and look for the animal and to see if he could find tracks. Another car that was traveling behind him also stopped, appearing to have seen something as well, but did not stay or converse. He then left to go get his father to search for footprints in the area. He was able to photograph some impressions (see attachments). A search for footprints was conducted on the north side of the road, with a possible impression being identified. There is a barbed-wire fence over 5 foot tall on the North side of the road that the animal had to cross. The fence was inspected, but no animal hairs of any kind were observed. There was a dead deer carcass located on the side of the road, with deer hair spread out and located in the area of the north fence line.

The witness has worked as an MP in the Air Force, and for the Medina County Sheriff’s Office. He currently works for the DoD editing medical documents.
