- Class 1, Corroboration: Reports involving a sighting, and accompanied by another form of support.1b A report investigation results in a sasquatch observation or the documentation of clear tracks or other forms of physical evidence by an investigator.
- Class 1c
- Class 1, Corroboration: Reports involving a sighting, and accompanied by another form of support.1c An investigator determines that a visual encounter with a sasquatch/bigfoot by a very reliable observer is a distinct possibility, tangible corroborating evidence is documented, and all other sources can be reasonably ruled out.
- Class 1d
- Class 1, Corroboration: Reports involving a sighting, and accompanied by another form of support.1d A visual encounter with a sasquatch/bigfoot is a distinct possibility involving two or more reliable observers, and all other sources can be reasonably ruled out.
- Class 2
- Class 2, Competency: Reports involving sightings by professionally trained or highly skilled observers.2 Investigator determines that a visual encounter with a sasquatch/bigfoot is a distinct possibility, the observer is exceptionally trustworthy, professionally trained, and experienced in the outdoors and/or is accustomed to looking for and recording details (e.g., biologist, anthropologist/archaeologist, ranger, trapper/tracker/seasoned hunter, bird watcher, game warden, naturalist, law enforcement), and other explanations can be reasonably excluded.
- Class 3a
- Class 3, Credibility: Sightings or possible wood ape evidence reported by credible witnesses.3a Investigator determines that a visual encounter with a sasquatch/bigfoot is a distinct possibility, the observer is credible, and all other sources can be reasonably ruled out.
- Class 3b
- Class 3, Credibility: Sightings or possible wood ape evidence reported by credible witnesses.3b Unidentifiable vocalizations were reported and there is accompanying tangible evidence to possibly indicate the presence of a sasquatch/bigfoot, the observer is very reliable, and other sources can be reasonably ruled out.
- Class 3c
- Class 3, Credibility: Sightings or possible wood ape evidence reported by credible witnesses.3c No visual encounter occurred, but physical evidence was found to indicate the presence of a sasquatch/bigfoot (tracks, hair, scat, etc.), the observer is very reliable, and other sources can be reasonably ruled out.

Witness Account:
We were camping in Spruce Pine, NC along the North Toe River this past Friday, Oct. 27th thru Monday, Oct. 30th. We were there to hike Roan mountain trails and Big Hump/Little Hump on the AT. Three Of Us, One each in two tents, one in a hammock. Hammock was close to the river (looks like a stream/creek to me) tents were approx. 30 foot further away from the river. I was asleep in a tent and heard a large and loud noise, then another identical noise and then another, all about 10-15 seconds apart. Had me thinking, I wish I had brought a pistol or rifle. I heard foot steps by my tent and it had me worried. A low voice said, "Do you have a flashlight ?" It startled me and I said "Who is this ?" It was my buddy who was sleeping in the hammock right by river. I gave him my flashlight and got up to follow him. I was a couple of seconds behind (after getting my old butt out of the small trail tent.) As we were walking, I saw and heard a very large crash as a hugh rock crashed into the river on the other side (river, creek in my book, was only 20 feet wide.) I saw a very big splash of water rise from the river. My buddy flashed the the strong beam of the flashlight up into the very steep terrain across the "river" from us. He scanned it closely and then I did. Nothing. But the splashing quit. Very large rocks (not sure when rock ends and boulder begins. it had to be in the middle ) were being thrown. I asked my girlfriend, who was in the other tent. Don't ask, we have small hiking tents and she brought her large dog. So, not much fun for me - LOL !! I asked her if she heard the sounds, She said she was Scared Sh!tless.
My buddy stayed awake most of the night on guard. The next day we hiked a long 8 hour hike up to Big Hump/Little Hump. Along the way we discussed the events of the night before.
After returning to the campsite, we ate supper, and sat around the campfire. Nothing that night. The next day, my buddy is a very outdoor adventure nut, crossed the river (only a foot deep up stream) and began to traverse the very steep terrain on the other side. Across from us where the rocks were hitting the water was tall sheer solid rock face that sits back about 20 feet from the water's edge. Below it and above the sheer rock face was very heavy thick stalked vegetation. My buddy, who is pretty strong, attempted to throw some decent sized rocks into the water from high up. None of them hit the water, but caught in the stalks of the thick vegetation. Finally, he tossed a smaller rock, approx. 7" x 14" x 4" thick into the water. Exact sound from Friday night. Same sound, but not the same magnitude BY FAR !!! He said, " I am in the woods all the time, but this was severely difficult terrain. He managed to get to the peak and look down the other side. Same Thing. He said he saw what he thought was a partial very large foot print, about 6" wide. Front of foot. Leaves were too thick to get a full print. He said between having to stand on that rough high pitched terrain and throw a very large rock that far out and hit the water without rolling down the bank was impossible for a human being. My girlfriend was in her tent, and I was standing behind my buddy when the last rock descended into the water. Would take a very, very big rock to make the booming sound this one made. Not saying it was Big Foot, but what ever threw those rocks is very, very, very strong. And very agile to traverse that terrain.
Physical evidence:
Just want you to know, I have always been a big skeptic at heart and usually dismiss any such talk of Big Foot , UFO's ,etc. After this incident, I very sincerely believe there is no way this was of a human's doing or capability, given the far away area, the terrain, the distance being thrown, and the size of rocks required to make the noise and splash we witnessed. Not human, something capable of throwing, and something of super strength.
Hand/foot prints:
One partial foot print, front of foot, approx. 6" wide. Thick leaves in area.
Sounds:
Rocks make huge splashes and huge splash sounds in water.
