- Class 1c
- Class 1, Corroboration: Reports involving a sighting, and accompanied by another form of support.1c An investigator determines that a visual encounter with a sasquatch/bigfoot by a very reliable observer is a distinct possibility, tangible corroborating evidence is documented, and all other sources can be reasonably ruled out.

- Class 1, Corroboration: Reports involving a sighting, and accompanied by another form of support.1d A visual encounter with a sasquatch/bigfoot is a distinct possibility involving two or more reliable observers, and all other sources can be reasonably ruled out.
- Class 2
- Class 2, Competency: Reports involving sightings by professionally trained or highly skilled observers.2 Investigator determines that a visual encounter with a sasquatch/bigfoot is a distinct possibility, the observer is exceptionally trustworthy, professionally trained, and experienced in the outdoors and/or is accustomed to looking for and recording details (e.g., biologist, anthropologist/archaeologist, ranger, trapper/tracker/seasoned hunter, bird watcher, game warden, naturalist, law enforcement), and other explanations can be reasonably excluded.
- Class 3a

- Class 3b
- Class 3, Credibility: Sightings or possible wood ape evidence reported by credible witnesses.3b Unidentifiable vocalizations were reported and there is accompanying tangible evidence to possibly indicate the presence of a sasquatch/bigfoot, the observer is very reliable, and other sources can be reasonably ruled out.
- Class 3c
- Class 3, Credibility: Sightings or possible wood ape evidence reported by credible witnesses.3c No visual encounter occurred, but physical evidence was found to indicate the presence of a sasquatch/bigfoot (tracks, hair, scat, etc.), the observer is very reliable, and other sources can be reasonably ruled out.

Witness Account:
This happened back in 1983. Richland Chambers was not built yet. Two friends and I were camping just east of the Trinity River. This, at that time, was a very rural area. No homes in the area because where we were camping was a flood plain. This property belonged to one of my friends relatives who ran cattle on the non-swamp area. It was wooded even in the swamps. We had to go through numerous gates, all on dirt roads, to get where we were going. We arrived in daylight and set up our canvas cabin tent. The swamp was on our west side. It was cold, overcast and misting off and on and a decent breeze was blowing out of the North. The only structures out there was a very old house, a shed for the tractor and a diesel tank on four legs about 8 feet in the air. My friends and I were all seasoned outdoorsmen. Many hunts, fishing trips, camp outs, survival camps (alone and with others), in many different States and many different environments and conditions. We had been trained for years by two men. A Marine and a Navy Chief had trained us in woodlore and survival. We were not the kind of people to be spooked or to feel fear out in the woods. This was our element. It's where we preferred to be until what I'm about to relate took place.
We had started a fire and the sun was setting. We decided to eat a bite off the grill over our fire. After we ate, darkness had fallen, so we determined that we would take the tractor out in the swamp and see what we could see. We took a shotgun, two rifles and a Q-Beam with alligator clips that we attached directly to the tractor’s battery. We were out in the swamp about two hours. We saw a few racoons and possums but that was all. It was just fun to be out where we really couldn’t go on foot and stay dry.
It was around 9:30pm or 10:00pm when we arrived back to our campsite and put the tractor up in it’s shed. We then loaded up in the pickup and did a little spotlighting on dry ground for a couple of hours. We saw a few eyes (probably raccoons) way up in the trees but we only ID’d one armadillo.
About midnight we headed back to our campsite. We sat around the fire long enough to warm up and then headed to the tent to bed down for the night. We had pitched our tent near the swamp. Only the dirt road separated us. Like most people do, we were tucked into our sleeping bags and joking and talking. I’ll call my friends Bob and Fred. As we were talking Bob asked, “Did you hear that?” Fred nor I had heard anything. Bob joked about what he heard for a few seconds and then there was a lull in the conversation. That’s when we all heard it. It was the most awful scream I’ve ever heard. I thought a Lion growl and roar was impressive, but this caused an immediate hollow spot to form in the middle of my chest. We stayed quiet and listened to it approach our campsite. I said that we should try to go through our list of known sounds and try to identify it. We discussed every beast we’d ever heard. Cougar, Bear, Panther, Turkey, Hog, etc. No, it was none of those or anything else we had ever heard. We considered a pump on a well, pressure valves blowing, the wind, etc. Nope, but whatever it was, it was moving closer. It was moving directly for us. By now, the whole bottom reverberated when this thing hollered. It was big. It had to be because the scream lasted many seconds, as if it was really upset. The volume did not decrease at the end of each scream either. We then noticed it was moving up and down the wood-line but staying in the swamp. Up and down it went, screaming at us. Then we heard something falling through the tree limbs and splash into the water. Perhaps a limb was thrown, I don’t know. We decided it was time to leave. We believe we stirred up something when we were riding around on the tractor in the swamp. It wanted us gone. It wanted us gone right then. We accommodated whatever it was. Dawn had begun by the time we arrived in town. We went to the house of the Marine who had trained us and related what had happened to us. He took us seriously because he knew us and knew we were seasoned. And he knew we were dead serious. There was a matter of pride that we had sacrificed by telling him about this and admitting that we were scared. You must understand that it was unthinkable to all of us that we would ever respond like this. He grabbed his gun and his dog, we all loaded up and went back out there. We saw nothing. No tracks, no evidence at all, nothing. We have never been back.
