Army Buddies Have Afternoon Sighting of Bipedal Creature While Hiking

Report Details

Occurrence date: July/1984
Location: County, LA
Nearby/Vicinity: Pickering
Time / Conditions: 14:00 — Partly cloudy and warm
# of Witnesses: 2

Witness Account:
Three of my fellow Army buddies and I decided to go camping one weekend approx. 2 1/2 miles behind the West La. Vo-Tech off U.S. Hwy 171 in Vernon Parish, Louisiana. We arrived on the afternoon of July 6th and set up camp. Everything went smoothly and normal that first night. The following morning two of us decided to go hiking and left our 2 buddies at camp. All that morning while out hiking, I kept on getting the feeling we were being followed, but did not see anything. At approx 2 p.m. we were about a mile from camp when approx. 200-250 ft. ahead of us a 6.5-7.0 ft. being walked across our path. The reason I say "being" is because I still don't know what exactly we saw. I can only describe it as somewhere in the 6.5-7.0 foot tall range. It was sort of a brownish-red color. It had arms that reached down past its waist. The thing had massive upper arms. The eyes were somewhat bigger than a human's eyes and they were brown in color. The top of its head was somewhat pointed, also. After standing and looking at us for about 2-3 mins, it turned and walked into the woods on the other side of the path. It never did make any aggressive moves toward us. We returned to our base that evening, instead of the next day, as planned.

Hand/foot prints:
none

Sounds:
no sounds

Additional observations:
This being did have a very bad rotten-food type odor.
