Witness Account:
My friend Randy and I were backpacking on the Ozark Highlands Trail, we had made camp for the night and were sitting by the fire eating our evening meal when we heard a large pack of coyotes yipping and howling in the distance. We then heard something we have never heard before, an incredibly loud howl/scream-sounded like a cross between an elk's bugle and a panther's scream, and as loud as an elephant trumpeting. We also noticed that the coyotes feel completely silent, as did everything else in the forest. We have both spent most of our lives in the woods, camping, hunting, fishing and so on, and this shook both of us pretty bad. I have since done quite alot of research, and I have read many eyewitness reports that have heard basically the same thing...
