I didn?t bother to go look or go back to look.

Sounds:
Yes just before I saw it, it made a sound the best I can describe is it sounded like a cow bellow and a panther.

Additional observations:
As I was getting to my truck I looked back to the water and at the edge of the trees I saw a large creature standing looking at me looking at it. It was around 8 or 9 feet tall from what I could tell. It had matted up orangish-brown hair. It was at least 50 yards from where I was parked. I couldn?t see its face or smell the thing. Investigator's Observations

Investigator(s): Charles DeVore

This investigation was conducted as a result of an incident that allegedly occurred in Lafayette County, Arkansas, in May 2006.

I interviewed this witness extensively and my impression was that he was quite credible; he furnished much more information about this reported encounter. The event reportedly occurred just at sundown with the sky turning sunset red.

By way of additional information, the witness reported that upon first noticing the loud whining noise, it sounded to be about 75 yards away but got closer. The sound increased to a loud aggressive bellowing sound combining with a cat-like roar in the same vocalization. It was a sound that this witness had never heard before. The witness told me that he became fearful and quickly left the area toward his truck that was parked approximately 200 yards in the distance. The witness recalled that he could hear something large shadowing him in the woods to his side as he hurried to his truck.

Upon arriving to the safety of his truck, the witness reportedly looked around the woods for a minute or two before noticing a strange upright figure. He described it as being very tall, standing on two legs like a human, covered in dirty matted hair and having a muscular build. The witness estimated the weight of the subject to be 500 to 600 pounds. The witness told me that the hairy figure was standing behind a low hanging tree limb with the foliage covering its body from below eye level to waist. No facial details could be discerned. The witness?s view of the subject was from a distance of approximately 50 yards as the figure stood in the shadows. After spotting it, the witness reportedly looked at the subject for a few seconds before becoming overcome again with fear; he quickly left the area.

The witness stated that the subject was standing still watching him as he drove off. The witness reported no aggressive movement or noise as it stood watching him. The witness did not notice anything that would denote gender.

The witness told me that he returned to the location on the afternoon of 25 May 2006; he was reportedly well armed and was looking for evidence. He reported that he could not find any footprints and was not sure if what he saw was still in the area. He did mention some sort of ?odd knocking noise? (possible woodpecker) coming from the woods, but there was no vocalization like before. The witness stated that the ?odd knocking noise? subsided after he picked up a limb and beat on a tree in an attempt to replicate the noise.

This location is a very sparsely-populated swampy area, only five miles east of the Red River and 20 miles northeast of Fouke, Arkansas in Miller County, which has both historical and recent reported encounters.
