Witness Account:
I live in Oklahoma and l was around age 14 at the time. I had made a simple box trap and l had set it in a very brushy creek area in the woods. I decided to go see if anything was in the trap. I was sitting on a creek bank and was resetting the trap. I noticed dogs barking in the distance real loud and crazy. As l sat there l heard something coming through the brush. When l looked up l thought it was a big man walking in the creek. So l yelled and said hey you. It immediately stopped and looked right at me. I then realized it wasn't a man after it stopped to stare at me. It turned its head sideways and just stared at me like it was puzzled. It was about 15 yards away from me standing on the other side of a small creek. It wasn't aggressive at all just total curiosity. I could see it in its eyes looking at me like what are you doing there. After about 2 minutes of staring at each other both of us in shock it looked back over its shoulder from the direction it came from and then started to walk real fast toward briars that were grown up in the trees about 12 feet high the briars were so thick a person could not walk through them. It went through those briars like they were not even there. For some reason l wasn't scared that it was going to hurt me. It was very calm but it could have stepped right over the creek and grabbed me at anytime but it wasn't aggressive just totally curious. It was about 7 feet tall and reddish brown. But the face was pink and wrinkled like an older person. I have never forgot that day. I told my parents but they didn't believe me. But l know 100% they exist. I haven't seen one since that time long ago and l have spent a lot of time over the years hunting and still going in the woods.

I finally was able to speak with the witness yesterday. We talked for over an hour and I found him to be very pleasant, intelligent, and credible. He seemed excited to have someone to talk to about this. As stated in his report it was August 1973 and he was a young teenager at the time. He was in a wooded area, sitting on a log along a small creek just outside of Sapulpa Oklahoma. Sapulpa is just west of Tulsa and I would consider it part of the Tulsa metroplex today. Witness stated that there we very few houses in the area in 1973 but that the area is developed today. He retold the story me and it correlated with the report he submitted five years ago. He was sitting on a log alongside a small creek in an area he frequented a lot. He heard something coming and it stepped out of the trees into the creek bed. He instantly thought it was a man and yelled "hey you" at it. It stopped, turned its head, and looked down at him. He immediately realized it wasn't a man. He told me that it was very close to him. He was sitting on a log and it was basically looking down at him.
The witness has spent a good part of his life in the outdoors hunting and seemed to me to be very knowledgeable about animals and the outdoors in general. As we were talking I was making notes as he described some of the details about what he saw. I asked him a few specific questions and these are some of the things he told me.
Time of day.
He guessed 10:00 or 11:00 am. He had been bored in the house and wanted to go outside and check on a box trap that he had built and just hang out along the creek.
Any noise or smell:
None.
Size of the animal:
Guessed around 7 feet tall. At least 600 to 650 lbs although it could have been more. Big massive heavy body. Like a gorilla. Huge arms. Extremely muscular. It wasn't fat. Trim like a weight lifter.
Face:
Very much like a gorilla. Flat, gorilla like, nose. The forehead, cheeks, nose, were free of hair. He recalls and described the facial skin as pink and somewhat wrinkled. Never opened its mouth and he never saw any teeth. He told me that even though he was looking into its eyes he wasn't able to recall color, etc..
Hair:
Reddish, straight, about 3" long. Very thick but wasn't tight like deer hair. He recalls the hair as very neat and looking like it was combed. No scruffy matted hair. Very healthy clean looking animal.
Other details.
I asked him what his general overall impressions of it were and these are some of his thoughts.
Very intelligent and smart. He reiterated that it wasn't "stupid". It didn't respond like a deer or other wildlife and instantly flee. It wasn't aggressive but wasn't afraid either. They were both startled and he felt that it looked at him like "what are you doing here". It appeared curious. The witness told me that he didn't feel any fear. He wasn't immediately sure what he was looking at other then it reminded him of a gorilla. It didn't walk at all like an ape. It walked just like a man. He mentioned a number of times how "smooth" it moved. That it was the smoothest walking animal he had ever seen. What really amazed him was how it walked through the thick briars on the other side of the creek. It stepped into and walked through the briars like they were "butter". "Ghostly" was a word he used to describe that. He felt that it was a male and in its prime. He also felt that it was alone.
It didn't scare him from going into the woods and hunting. He did and still does have trepidations about being out there in the dark. He's never seen another one. I asked if over the years he had ever looked into the subject much and he said not really. It did make an impression on him. He said he can recall that day like it was yesterday and that he'd never forget it. He told very few about it. He stated to me a number of times that they were "real" and he was good with that.
