Report Details

Occurrence date: November/1977
Location: Oklahoma County, OK
Nearby/Vicinity: Chelsea
Time / Conditions: 10:00 — Overcast, a little hazy.
# of Witnesses: 3

Witness Account:
Three of us, me, wife and son driving West on OK 66, 3 miles North of Chelsea. First observed tall, hairy beast on North side of road, headed South, crossed road into center median where it turned around and, on all fours headed back North rapidly. When he reached the North edge of the hiway the gait changed to bipedal, still hurrying he went through a gate into a hay meadow skirted by timber. He, (it) turned left into the timber, looking back over his left shoulder at us. The gate post was 5 feet tall and came just above his waist. We have all three mostly talked about this only to each other. When he made the turnaround I thought Buffalo! because of the hair color and size. But then it stood up and walked off.

Additional observations:
This is between Grand River and Virdigris and it's travel route was along a small waterway. The divide between the watersheds is within a mile to the Northwest I think. There were reports in little local papers of sounds, harassed dogs, missing dogs, smells etc. for 2 weeks after our sighting along the shore of Oolagah Lake only a few miles West of there.
