- Class 1, Corroboration: Reports involving a sighting, and accompanied by another form of support.1a A sasquatch/bigfoot specimen has been collected (alive or dead).
- Class 1b
- Class 1, Corroboration: Reports involving a sighting, and accompanied by another form of support.1b A report investigation results in a sasquatch observation or the documentation of clear tracks or other forms of physical evidence by an investigator.
- Class 1c
- Class 1, Corroboration: Reports involving a sighting, and accompanied by another form of support.1c An investigator determines that a visual encounter with a sasquatch/bigfoot by a very reliable observer is a distinct possibility, tangible corroborating evidence is documented, and all other sources can be reasonably ruled out.
- Class 1d
- Class 1, Corroboration: Reports involving a sighting, and accompanied by another form of support.1d A visual encounter with a sasquatch/bigfoot is a distinct possibility involving two or more reliable observers, and all other sources can be reasonably ruled out.
- Class 2
- Class 2, Competency: Reports involving sightings by professionally trained or highly skilled observers.2 Investigator determines that a visual encounter with a sasquatch/bigfoot is a distinct possibility, the observer is exceptionally trustworthy, professionally trained, and experienced in the outdoors and/or is accustomed to looking for and recording details (e.g., biologist, anthropologist/archaeologist, ranger, trapper/tracker/seasoned hunter, bird watcher, game warden, naturalist, law enforcement), and other explanations can be reasonably excluded.
- Class 3a
- Class 3, Credibility: Sightings or possible wood ape evidence reported by credible witnesses.3a Investigator determines that a visual encounter with a sasquatch/bigfoot is a distinct possibility, the observer is credible, and all other sources can be reasonably ruled out.
- Class 3b
- Class 3, Credibility: Sightings or possible wood ape evidence reported by credible witnesses.3b Unidentifiable vocalizations were reported and there is accompanying tangible evidence to possibly indicate the presence of a sasquatch/bigfoot, the observer is very reliable, and other sources can be reasonably ruled out.
- Class 3c
- Class 3, Credibility: Sightings or possible wood ape evidence reported by credible witnesses.3c No visual encounter occurred, but physical evidence was found to indicate the presence of a sasquatch/bigfoot (tracks, hair, scat, etc.), the observer is very reliable, and other sources can be reasonably ruled out.

Class 3aMotorist reports late afternoon sighting in West Texas.
Report Details
Occurrence date: October/2005
Location: Callahan County, TX
Time / Conditions: Approx 1600 — Weather was cool, in the lower 70s, sunny. Pastureland with a line of trees in the back. It was standing in a pasture full of cows, so I assume there was a farm of some sort in the area, perhaps multiple farms as it's rural west Texas.

Witness Account:
I was driving to San Angelo and had just come out of Cisco going towards Cross Plains on 206 when I looked to my right to idly glance at the "millionth" field of cows I'd passed that day. As I approached the field, the cows were all towards the back away from the highway maybe 250 yards (I'm a poor judge of distance), but I noticed something with the cows that wasn't a cow. It was black, like a few of the cows were, but standing upright on two legs a bit crouched over one of the cows that was lying down. It looked a bit anthropomorphic, like a casual conversation between people. I drove past it thinking I'd just seen something odd, but not really sure of it, so I backed up on the shoulder to get a better look. When I did that, as I slowed to a stop, it seemed to look up at me. It stood up straight and walked towards the trees at the back of the field. It took a slow, loping gait as if to say, "I'm not scared of you, but I'm leaving anyway." When it had stood up completely and was traipsing to the trees, I noticed the back of one of the standing cows it passed came to about the waist of the creature, maybe a little lower. No one else seemed to be in the vicinity. I couldn't see what was behind the trees in the field, and no one passed me on the highway either when I was stopped or backing up. I didn't bother to get out and go look where it was standing because they weren't my cows or my field. As stated previously, there were cows. Anywhere from 20-40. I didn't try to count them. About half were standing, half were lying down. They [the cows] didn't seem to be afraid of it. They were minding their own business grazing, lying in the sun, and doing normal cow kinds of things with the exception of the black cow lying down at the feet of the creature. It was just staring up at the creature looming over it, neither one of them really moving.
Physical evidence:
Unknown. I really didn't want to get arrested for trespassing.
Sounds:
Unknown, but unlikely. I had the radio playing.
Additional observations:
None noticed, but I was in a truck and the critters were a fair distance away.

This investigation was conducted as a result of an incident that allegedly occurred in Callahan County, Texas in 2005.
I interviewed the witness immediately after the alleged sighting and then just prior to this report. The report remained consistent throughout with little changes in the story. What struck me as unique to this report, which related to my own sighting years ago, is that the witness did not believe at first what was seen. Based on my own experience, I am familiar with how the mind does not readily accept what it doesn't understand. Just as I was trying to make sense so many years ago of what I saw, this witness was doing the same thing. When an event such as this occurs that is entirely unexpected, again based on my own experience, it is easy to consider the possibility that your mind is playing tricks.
I went over the reported sighting with the witness a number of times afterward and there remained consistency with the story and the surreal feeling that it gave the witness. It has now been five months since the purported sighting and the report. With this much time lapse, I asked the witness to again repeat the story to me. The story did not change from the posted report that is included here.
What is striking about this report is the described lack of fear from the cows as the subject seemed to interact among them. This type of behavior on the part of the cattle could lend itself to the unidentified subject being human. However, the uniform dark coloration of the figure, its movement manner, the way that the witness's attention caused it to flee and its apparent overwhelming and inhuman size seemed to indicate an alternative source other than human. It was because of these factors that the witness felt the need to classify what she reportedly saw as not being human. Also, I have seen in other reports that cows have acted both scared and unconcerned.
This area is thick with post oak and green briar underbrush. It has a smattering of hayfields and peanut fields. The peanut vegetation would be an excellent food source in the area. The area also has one of the higher density deer populations in the state. The Leon River is to the east and feeds several reservoirs along its route. To the west is the Colorado River that forms into its first major lake approximately 35 miles to the south as it winds through the Texas hill country where there are a number of large lakes. This Colorado River corridor is where most of the West Texas sighting reports originate. The riparian cover here seems to be thick enough to enable concealed movement, for the most part, of a wide-ranging, nocturnal, rare and intelligent species.
There were rumors of sightings near the Cross Plains area and surrounding counties, but I was never able to coax anyone to come forward and tell their stories; all I have at this point is second-hand data and not worth repeating. So, there is information out there related to this area that is not documented at this time.
I know the witness well; there is a long reputation of truth and veracity. I have no reason to believe that this story is not factual in basis.
