# of Witnesses:

Witness Account:
I am reporting for what my parents saw one morning traveling to Houston. It was around 9:00 a.m. and they were traveling West from Romayor to Cleveland on (FM 787). This is when from a distance they saw a large brownish-red creature crossed in front of them. It was abnormally large and crossed the road in a swift leaping motion. My father said it used one of its long arms to support his quick movement on the ground. It was slouching forward and its body was wide and pear-shaped. Also, it had long skinny legs. However, they weren't able to see its face at the distance they spotted it. It seemed to come from the north woods (Shepherd Area) and crossed to and through a pipeline which headed south to HWY 105. The location was past a little creek and culvert bridge on a 100+ yards stretch of woods and trails (pipelines and telephone) from the nearest road and houses. It was just 4 miles west of the Trinity River and 1/2 a mile past the Rayburn town sign. Being in a hurry caused them only to slow down and look down the trail. Unfortunately, they didn't see any trace of it as they tried to look for it. When I visited them a day later they had told me about what they had seen. Also, they have told many family and friends, and the story has been very accurate.

As long as we lived in the area (15 years) there have been many rumors of sightings. I am reporting because of a report on the news on channel 13 ABC, about a recent sighting near Bay City. Also, it mentioned a sighting in Liberty county by the Trinity River a few months ago (May).

Additional observations:
A huge ape-human like creature

Investigator's Observations

Investigator(s): Daryl Colyer

This investigation was conducted as a result of an incident that allegedly occurred in Liberty County, Texas, in May 2004.

I spoke to the submitter of the report who was able to put me in contact with his parents about the encounter. In talking to both witnesses, I learned that the male witness saw the subject cross the road, and the female witness saw the subject after it had already crossed the road.

The witnesses described the subject as a "rust" color or the color of "dead pine needles." They further described it as being very quick, large and very hairy. The witnesses stated that the subject appeared to be stooped over while running and that it seemed to occasionally use a hand to push off the ground. When I asked the witnesses about the height of the subject, they both said that it was difficult to say because of the stooped nature of its run, but it appeared to be maybe six feet tall.

The witnesses stated that the figure never stopped running while it was in their field of view.

The witnesses told of a possible encounter that occurred in the same area about two weeks prior to this sighting at approximately the same time of the morning. The witnesses told of seeing an enormous puddle of blood in the highway (787) and a large blood trail leading to the guard rail at the bridge. Just on the other side of the guard rail was a large, hairy animal lying in a heap, somewhat sitting up. The witnesses passed at such a rate of speed that no details could be discerned, except that the color was reddish-brown or "rust," just as in the sighting mentioned above.

By the time the witnesses could turn their vehicle around and pass by the area again, the animal was gone. The male witness wanted to stop the vehicle, but the female witness urged him not to do so.

Neither witness could say with certainty what it was they saw on the other side of the guard rail, but they said they knew that it was large and hairy and reddish-brown in color.

The male witness told me that he has known for years of the existence of these animals, and he is troubled that hardly anyone takes the matter seriously. He also stated that he hopes no one will try to kill one of the animals, because he doesn't think they are harmful.
