Location: Smith County, TX

# of Witnesses: 0

Witness Account:
A large animal of some sort, it walked erect as a man would, crossed the road in front of my brother as he was coming home from Tyler. It crossed the road directly in front of him causing him to almost have to take evasive action to avoid it. Using a nearby road sign as a point of reference he estimated it to be about 8.5' to 9' tall. After it crossed in front of him he said it paused briefly to look back at him and then turned and walked away. It showed no sign of fear of the car. It seemed to cross the width of the roadway in a very short time. My brother was a FF/EMT and never drank a drop of liquor in his life. I have never heard him be so convinced of what he saw as that night.

Additional observations:
He described it as about 9' tall and covered with hair which appeared to be a dark brown and maybe 3" in length. It walked erect as would a man, in fact my brother had thought at first that it might be a man until he saw its size in comparison to the sign.

Investigator's Observations

Interview conducted November, 21, 2002. The original witness passed away three years ago, but described the sighting to his brother who submitted the report. The submitter stated that even though he was surrounded by skeptics. His brother (the witness) insisted on the truth of his statement until the submitter believed him. Both the original witness and the submitter were very credible professionals.

The original sighting occurred on August, 16, 1992 at 3 am. The weather was warm, with no precipitation. The lunar cycle was uncertain due to the elapsed time in reporting (10 years). As the witness was traveling south on US69 going home after work. The animal crossed the road in front of him as he approached the bridge of a creek which crossed the highway. The witness said the animal crossed the road, a two lane highway with shoulders on both sides in just a few steps walking very quickly. As he closed the distance between himself and the animal it stopped on the side of the road and turned to look at him. The witness described the animal as being 8.5 to 9 feet tall and very heavy in build. He had originally thought it to be a human but realized it was a Bigfoot when he noticed the size. This gentleman observed the Bigfoot for approximately five minutes at a distance of sixty feet to very close. The animal appeared to be very passive in it's mannerisms as it stopped and turned to look at him as he passed. The witness did not notice any facial details.

The animal was moving along the creek bottom and had to come up to cross the road due to the culvert being to small to move through. During the sighting no sounds were heard and no smells were detected. The area of the sighting is a honeycomb of creeks and swampy wetlands. With plenty of water sources and abundant vegetation for both food and hiding cover. There are also natural springs in the area and stock tanks.

Since the time of the sighting the area has been improved with a housing addition being built approximately 200 yards from the creek on the southeast side of the creek. The area on the west side of the creek is still very wild and would be a good habitat, as well as part of the northeast side.
