Witness Account:
Well to tell you the truth I was a teen at the time and I always thought it was a ghost or something like that because it was white, but when I found out others had seen something similar, it dawned on me it really could have been a bigfoot.

We lived in a rent house that was shaped like an "L" on 27 acres of land. In the back there was a pond. I hate that place. I loved it at first, so much land, trails to walk. The landlord said the pond was stocked but we never caught any thing. I don't know what is there now or even if the house is still there. I was always too scared to go back.

There were strange things that happened. At first it was cool. I would have my friends over and they would be scared and I thought it was funny. I would even tell them there were ghosts. From the beginning there were the strange noises. Not really howls - more like screams in the night air. Mom thought it was maybe a wild cat. We used to tell people it was a banshee! ( dry laugh). But then people started seeing it: something white, big, 8 foot easy, smooth moving, fast, clever.

The first sighting was by a boy not liked by my family. He came over late one night to talk to me out back. All of a sudden he got this shocked look on his face. My family are all nurses. My father is 6 foot he said "oh man" and left. He later told me he thought my Dad was spying on us. He said he had seen a large white figure moving from tree to tree and hiding behind them.

The second sighting was by my boyfriend. We had a fight and his truck would not start so he decided to walk home through the fields. He said a large white figure walked beside him. It never attempted to hurt him. He never looked directly at it. He was too afraid. He just kept walking calmly, looking at the ground. When he reached the fence line it stopped. He continued walking but it did not follow.

I met my neighbor in home room one day. He did not know I was his new neighbor yet and he told us this story about a large white thing in his neighbor's yard (my yard) following him one day while he was on his four-wheeler. After that we all saw it occasionally and decided it was harmless since it only seemed to watch us.

Then one night me and a friend of mine were walking down the road and this thing came from behind a tree, ripped a huge tree limb off and threw it. We were so frightened - everything is a blur. We turned and ran. I outran my friend but he swears he could feel the thing's breath hot on his neck. We ran to the friend's house that we were in fact just leaving. We both jumped the gate. Some more friends who were leaving behind us said something white was behind us then just gone. Still no one believed us completely till we showed them the limb ripped from the tree lying in the road the next morning. This is the only time it was seen out of my 27 acres and the only time it acted violent.

But it was so traumatic I asked my mother to move. We moved shortly after. I have never been back.

Sounds:
It made a growl when it ripped the limb out of the tree. Screams, howls, moans you name it. Like I said we joked it was banshees. But seriously, some nights it was really scary to know something was out there and not know what exactly was making those noises. We really thought maybe it was a wild cat.

Additional observations:
Large, 8 foot, maybe 250-300 pounds. White hair all over, human in shape. No odor that I can remember.

Investigator's Observations

Investigator(s): Craig Woolheater

This investigation was conducted as a result of incidents that allegedly occurred in Henderson County, Texas, near Athens in the summers of 1989 and 1990.

The witness saw the special report with Jonna Fitzgerald on NBC56 Tyler-Longview about the NAWAC and reported sightings of bigfoot in East Texas. She decided to contact us after viewing this.

I interviewed the witness on 24 September 2002. She was initially unsettled about talking to us and had actually not told anyone about these incidents, including her husband. The fear of ridicule and lack of confidentiality is what made her unsure. Once we gained her confidence, she spoke freely about the series of incidents.

The witness was a teenager, living with her mother, sister-in-law and brother. They lived on 27 acres of land. The property had a pond or stream, which fed into other streams. Wooded with open pastures, the property also had one solitary pear tree. The family owned dogs and the neighbors had cows.

The witness told of how the subject in question was reportedly seen occasionally over the two-year period. Apparently it was always seen in the summer, walking on two legs and was described as six to eight feet in height. It was big and its color was white or ?whitish.?

In what the witness described as one of the most frightening moments in her life, the subject was only a mere 10 ? 12 feet from her. The witness attested that she and a friend who was with her were chased from across the street where the subject stepped out and twisted off a large limb from a tree. To the witness?s recollection, this was the only time that the subject had been witnessed acting in a violent or threatening manner.

The witness indicated that throughout the two-year period, peculiar vocalizations were heard on their property. The animals in the vicinity would evidently go crazy when the screaming vocalizations would begin.

The witness?s boyfriend claimed that he was paralleled by something big and white one night as he walked through the property. Supposedly, the subject followed a neighbor while he was riding an ATV at night. The subject was said to have sped up when the ATV sped up and slowed down when the ATV slowed down; apparently, the subject was pacing the ATV rider. On another occasion, the subject was reportedly seen close by the house one night by yet another witness.

The witness recalled that for a while they thought what they were witnessing was some sort of ghost-like figure, because of the white color and how easy it would seemingly disappear. Witnesses had reportedly seen the subject walk on the property but not walk past the property line. The witness believed that, for a while at least, the subject lived on the property.
