Report Details

Occurrence date: /2001
Location: Cherokee County, TX
Time / Conditions: 10pm — Wooded, a creek runs behind the property. There is a small stand of pear and apple trees about 15 feet from the house.
# of Witnesses: 0

Witness Account:
My mother called me at a few minutes before 10 PM saying she had just walked onto her porch and suddenly heard something strike her propane tank, then her truck, then she went into the house without looking though a tarp that was obstructing her view because she was afraid. She called me and upon arriving at her house I searched for tracks. The ground is very hard and covered with grass so I found none. I did find some ornamental vines that are growing at a height of around six feet that had grey animal hair about 1-1/2 inches long on it. There is no way any other animals could reach these vines. There were many items including an animal carrier that were thrown around from their original positions. About 10 minutes prior to this incident my mother was outside letting her dog go to the bathroom. She heard a snort around the same side of the house where the incident later occurred. She dismissed it as a deer at the time.

Physical evidence:
The day she saw the animal by her propane tank she called me and I went to her house immediately. I found one partial footprint but didn't have anything to make a cast with. Tonight we found hairs on vines that are impossible for any animal to reach. Earlier today my mother found two pools of blood on a chair she sits on, as well as blood that I found on the hood of two pickup trucks in her yard. I intend to get a sample of this blood tomorrow if possible.

Sounds:
Yes, tonight the animal was making a screaming sound that sounded like a bull bellowing but louder and deeper as it pounded on her truck. It didn't make this noise until it was within about 15 feet of her.

Additional observations:
Several months ago she was driving into her driveway and saw an almost buffalo colored animal, approx six feet tall standing by her propane tank. It was broad daylight. As she looked back at the driveway to keep from hitting anything and to stop her truck it must have went behind her house. As she looked back it was gone. Yes, a bad putrid, musky odor. Not like a skunk though.

Investigator's Observations

The witness saw the special report with Jonna Fitzgerald on NBC56 Tyler-Longview about the Texas Bigfoot Research Center and the sightings of Bigfoot in East Texas. He decided to contact us after viewing this.

We met the witness and his family at our last monthly meeting in Rusk, TX on 9/14/2002. They were very nice people. They invited the whole group attending the meeting out to where the incidents he reported took place. The incidents took place in Cherokee County, in Rusk. His mother lives one mile away driving distance from the witness. You can walk a half of mile behind the witness's house, through the woods, across a creek, and get to his mother's house.

His mother lives alone in a small house. There is a neighbor next door. Their house is about 50 yards away. The rest of the area is wooded. She has a propane tank on one side of the house. The tank is about 2 ft. high and approximately 3-4 ft. long. There is a pear tree in the front of the house that is fenced in. There are plenty of pears hanging and lying on the ground. A small dog is tied up there also. The incidents mentioned in the sighting report were investigated on site.

Something struck the propane tank that sits on the side of the house. Something has been pounding on the side of the house near her bedroom window. Twice she did see a Bigfoot type animal next to the propane tank and in the back of the house. There isn't much to add to the other mentioned incidents from his sighting report.

Although, there is reported Bigfoot activity in Cherokee County, we found no evidence of activity at the mother's house. It should be mentioned here that people are trying to buy her land.

We visited the witness's house as well. Their property is more remote. They have chickens, guineas and geese, along with many dogs. The dogs are on each side of the property. The fowl can venture down from his property and into the woods. There are fox, wild hog and big cats in the woods, as well as other predators. We did find what resembled a tree twist, but not much more. The witness's wife had complained about something chasing her up the hill back to her property while retrieving some of the fowl at dusk.
