Class 3a

2 hunters saw a large, 2 legged ape looking creature

Report Details

Occurrence date: May/1979
Location: Angelina County, TX
Nearby/Vicinity: Peavy Switch
Time / Conditions: 11:00pm — Overgrowth from a clear cut. There are a few small farms along this road.
# of Witnesses: 0

Witness Account:
While out night hunting one night a friend and I came across a large two legged ape looking creature squatted besides the road. When my friend shined his light into its eyes it stood, snorted and turned back into the clear-cut. We got out of there as fast as we could also. The ground was a hard pack. We were shining a spotlight from a truck shooting rabbits. No other animals were seen along this stretch of road that night which was strange. It was real quiet just before this happened.

Sounds:
Just a snort was all I heard. I once heard a sound like a baby crying or a wounded rabbit at Holly Bluff one night and I have heard a high pitched whistle several times while fishing the Angelina and Neches rivers.

Additional observations:
I had a rotten smell inside my truck the next day.
