Witness Account:
A friend of ours was driving home when she went through a bottom she noticed something in the road. As she got closer it raised up and walked across the road. She was very upset and had called my wife to tell her what she had seen. She knew that I was interested in things of this nature and wondered if I knew what it could be. She described it as being between 6 1/2 to 7 feet tall with dark curly hair covering the body. I asked if she could distinguish if it was black or even red but she couldn't. It had no neck and was able to cross the road in two strides and disappear into the bottom.
Investigator's Observations
The witness was driving on Lavender Rd with her nine year old son. She noticed something along the side of the road hunched down towards the ground. As she drove closer to the figure, it got up and walked across the road in front of her car. At first she thought it was a bear, but after watching it cross the road and walk down to the creek, she knew it wasn't. The creature was 6 1/2 to 7 feet tall and hairy. Her son did not see the creature, he was reading at the time. But he knew something had frightened his mother.
The witness was very upset after her sighting. She immediately called her friend when she got home (the person that submitted the report to us). The fact that the sighting occurred less than a mile from her house upset her the most.
NAWAC investigators went to the location of the sighting. Lavender Rd. is very narrow. The witness claimed the animal crossed the road in two strides. There are woods on both sides of the road. A creek runs along the side. Wild berries were present in the area. There are farms very close by, one of which is a chicken farm. They found a gas line right of way in the area where the animal was reported to cross the road. We found several tree breaks in the area as well. There was an area of barb wire fence that was pushed down that had a small tree bent into a U shape hanging over it.
