- Class 1b
- Class 1, Corroboration: Reports involving a sighting, and accompanied by another form of support.1b A report investigation results in a sasquatch observation or the documentation of clear tracks or other forms of physical evidence by an investigator.
- Class 1c
- Class 1, Corroboration: Reports involving a sighting, and accompanied by another form of support.1c An investigator determines that a visual encounter with a sasquatch/bigfoot by a very reliable observer is a distinct possibility, tangible corroborating evidence is documented, and all other sources can be reasonably ruled out.
- Class 1d
- Class 1, Corroboration: Reports involving a sighting, and accompanied by another form of support.1d A visual encounter with a sasquatch/bigfoot is a distinct possibility involving two or more reliable observers, and all other sources can be reasonably ruled out.
- Class 2
- Class 2, Competency: Reports involving sightings by professionally trained or highly skilled observers.2 Investigator determines that a visual encounter with a sasquatch/bigfoot is a distinct possibility, the observer is exceptionally trustworthy, professionally trained, and experienced in the outdoors and/or is accustomed to looking for and recording details (e.g., biologist, anthropologist/archaeologist, ranger, trapper/tracker/seasoned hunter, bird watcher, game warden, naturalist, law enforcement), and other explanations can be reasonably excluded.
- Class 3a
- Class 3, Credibility: Sightings or possible wood ape evidence reported by credible witnesses.3a Investigator determines that a visual encounter with a sasquatch/bigfoot is a distinct possibility, the observer is credible, and all other sources can be reasonably ruled out.
- Class 3b
- Class 3, Credibility: Sightings or possible wood ape evidence reported by credible witnesses.3b Unidentifiable vocalizations were reported and there is accompanying tangible evidence to possibly indicate the presence of a sasquatch/bigfoot, the observer is very reliable, and other sources can be reasonably ruled out.
- Class 3c
- Class 3, Credibility: Sightings or possible wood ape evidence reported by credible witnesses.3c No visual encounter occurred, but physical evidence was found to indicate the presence of a sasquatch/bigfoot (tracks, hair, scat, etc.), the observer is very reliable, and other sources can be reasonably ruled out.

Witness Account:
Early in the morning my husband and I were driving from Lufkin to Longview. We were traveling on Highway 322 just south of the Gregg County Airport. I saw a large creature walking out of thick woods and on to some land used for strip mining. I wanted to get out. My husband would not stop. The animal we had seen was walking in the direction of a house that had just been built.
Two of my sons have had sightings while traveling the same road but farther south.
Physical evidence:
Did not check for evidence.
Sounds:
Did not hear any sounds.
Additional observations:
The creature was approximately 8 feet tall, and very large in stature. The animal looked like it was two colors, auburn and a very dark color.
Investigator's Observations
Investigator(s): Craig Woolheater
This investigation was conducted as a result of an incident that allegedly occurred just south of the Gregg-Rusk County line, in Rusk County, Texas, during the spring of 2000.
The witness stated that she and her husband were traveling on Highway 322. The witness recalled that the temperature was comfortable, with a little fog, but visibility was good. The time was approximately 8:45 a.m. The witness recalled at that time spotting an unusual figure emerging from the woods, walking bipedally, and then it went back into the woods.
The witness estimated that the distance was roughly 150 yards from the car. She asked her husband if he had seen it. He told the witness that he had not seen it and continued to drive. Although the witness wanted to stop, they did not. The site is used for strip mining.
The witness described the subject as probably around eight feet tall and very large in stature; its color was described as auburn. The witness recalled being able to determine that at the feet, hands, neck and torso was a very dark color. There is a newly built house on part of this land; the subject seemed to be walking in the direction of the newly-built house.
Five months later, one of the witness?s sons claimed that he witnessed an accident on the same highway involving a big rig in front of him. Reportedly, it was late at night, when the big truck in front of the son stopped suddenly. Her son went out to talk to the driver of the truck. The trucker reportedly told the son that something on two legs ran out in front of him. The trucker reportedly said that he thought at first the figure was human wearing dark clothes. Ostensibly, the subject was unable to avoid the big truck and was hit. The witness indicated that the son and the driver of the truck examined the front grill of the truck and found clumps of hair. Whatever it was that had collided with the truck apparently survived, at least momentarily, and got back up and ran into the woods on the other side of the road. While the two stood there discussing what had happened, they reportedly both heard noises coming from the woods. Supposedly at that time, a man on a motorcycle stopped at the scene. After hearing what the son and truck driver had to say about the incident, the rider of the motorcycle supposedly told them, ?You don?t want to be around if that thing comes back out.? Apparently the rider was aware of numerous reported sightings of large bipedal animals in the area and advised the son and the trucker to leave.
Also, the second son was supposedly driving the same highway late at night when he too saw a large ?creature? walk out in front of him. The son stopped the car and watched as the subject walked across to the other side of the road. The witness said that her son claimed that the subject was ?close enough to the front of the car to reach out and touch it.? Reportedly the son was shocked and refuses to discuss his experience.
